Our Curriculum

Curriculum Vision

At Farncombe Church of England Infant School we are committed to providing a rich, broad and balanced curriculum rooted in Christian values that nurtures each child’s unique gifts and potential. We believe every child is fearfully and wonderfully made, and our curriculum reflects our mission to develop confident, compassionate and curious learners who are ready to flourish in God’s world.

The Curriculum at Farncombe

Our curriculum is designed to:

  • Inspire a love of learning through engaging, creative and meaningful experiences that spark curiosity and wonder in our youngest learners. We believe that learning should be joyful, purposeful and connected to children’s lives and interests.

  • Build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and communication skills that will serve as stepping stones for future learning. We recognise that the early years are crucial for establishing core competencies that underpin all subsequent education.

  • Develop the whole child by nurturing spiritual, moral, social, cultural, physical and emotional growth. Our Christian ethos permeates all aspects of learning, helping children develop empathy, resilience, respect and responsibility.

  • Celebrate diversity and inclusion by ensuring our curriculum reflects the rich tapestry of backgrounds, cultures and experiences within our school community and the wider world. We value each child’s unique story and heritage.

  • Foster independence and confidence*by providing appropriately challenging learning opportunities that encourage risk-taking, problem-solving and creative thinking in a safe and supportive environment.

  • Connect learning to real-world experiences through practical, hands-on activities, educational visits, and meaningful links to our local Surrey community and beyond.

  • Prepare children for their next steps by ensuring smooth transitions and building the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for continued success in their educational journey.

Christian Vision and Values

Our curriculum is underpinned by out theologically rooted Christian vision and values taken from the apostles Paul’s first letter t the church in Corinth.

These values are woven throughout our learning experiences, helping children develop a strong moral compass and understanding of their place in God’s world.

Our Commitment

We are committed to delivering a curriculum that is ambitious for all children, regardless of their starting points or backgrounds. Through careful assessment, adaptation and support, we ensure every child can access high-quality learning opportunities that enable them to achieve their full potential and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our curriculum reflects our belief that education is a partnership between home, school and community, working together to nurture each precious child in our care.
